Field of the Invention The present invention relates to the fields of communications and wireless communication. More particularly, the invention is directed to a method and system for making improvements in the quality of service of mobile communications system utilizing a diversity technique. 2. Description of the Related Art In general, in the mobile communications system, the quality of service (QoS) is an important parameter representing the performance of the communications services. A mobile communications system, which is in compliance with the standard (“the standard”) set forth by the International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 Project (IMT-2000) Project, e.g., GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System), etc., has been required to provide various types of communications services and data services for providing various multimedia services. For example, the standard sets forth that voice services should be provided with a transfer rate of 144 Kbps (Kilobits per second) or 384 Kbps, data services should be provided with a transfer rate of 144 Kbps or 384 Kbps, and video services should be provided with a transfer rate of 144 Kbps or 256 Kbps. In case of the voice service, the transfer rate of 144 Kbps and 384 Kbps are the maximum transfer rates for all GSM-based systems including mobile systems and fixed-wire systems, while in case of the data service, the transfer rate of 144 Kbps is the maximum transfer rate for the GSM-based systems. It is required in the mobile communications system to provide fast and reliable communications services for guaranteeing the QoS.
